[ARCHIVED] No garbage dumping permitted at City of West Fargo compost and recycling sites

Garbage

The City of West Fargo wants to remind residents that no garbage is permitted to be dumped at City of West Fargo recycling or compost collection sites. Specifically, sanitation crews have seen issues with the 40th Avenue W. collection site being overrun with garbage and non-recyclable materials contaminating the recycling bins.

These collection sites are available to residents of West Fargo to drop off recyclable materials and compostable materials, such as grass clippings and garden waste. Earlier this winter, the City of West Fargo aimed to accommodate garbage dumping that had been occurring at this site by adding dumpsters to the area. Unfortunately, due to continued abuse and issues with contaminated recycling, these dumpsters will no longer be available.

The City of West Fargo offers a full-service curbside garbage collection program, which does not limit residents on the amount of garbage that can be placed curbside for collection each week. Residents with curbside garbage and recycling services are asked to only utilize the drop sites for compost collection and utilize their curbside collection day or the Transfer Station for any excess materials. The Transfer Station, found at 1620 W. Main Ave. in West Fargo, is available for residents to use free of charge to dispose of recycling, garbage, compost and other items.
