Citizens Fire Academy

The West Fargo Citizens Fire Academy is a 7-week program designed to give citizens the opportunity to experience the daily work of the West Fargo Fire Department. Participants have the opportunity to participate in activities including classroom training, ride-a-longs and real life scenarios. 

Citizens Fire Academy participants are not trained or qualified to act as a firefighter or first responder. Participants will gain a better understanding of the West Fargo Fire Department's operations, capabilities and responsibilities. 

DATES

The next West Fargo Citizens Fire Academy will be held in Spring 2024.

COST

There is no participation fee for the West Fargo Citizens Fire Academy. 

REQUIREMENTS

Interested participants must be a resident of West Fargo or currently employed in West Fargo and 18 years of age or older. Only chosen and notified applicants are able to participate in the program.

NEXT STEPS

Fire Marshal Dell Sprecher will accept the Citizens Fire Academy applications in the order they arrive. The West Fargo Fire Department will conduct a background check. All applicants will be notified regarding the status of their acceptance. Only selected applicants, who have been notified, are able to participate in the program.
