Lockdown at Freedom Elementary
The West Fargo Police Department responded to the Freedom Elementary School on 3-6-13 for threats made over the phone of a male possibly coming to "shoot up the school". After further investigation, it has been graded as a low level threat. Freedom Elementary staff and Law Enforcement Officials have been working to develop the source and the case is still under investigation. Officials are encouraging students and parents to resume normal activities. All threats are treated with an emergent response to protect children and other personnel. Lockdown procedures are in place for safety and are implemented upon a threat to any school. The West Fargo Police Department wishes to thank Freedom Elementary for their response and the children and parents for their cooperation. The West Fargo Police Department has always had a presence in the schools, including by not limited to drills conducted to ease the concerns of parents and students. The West Fargo Police Department will conduct a press conference at 3:30 for questions from the media in the Police Department conference room.
