Chief's Medal Awarded
12-13-13 By Staff

During the December 2013 West Fargo Police Department Meeting, Chief Arland H. Rasmussen awarded the “Chiefs Medal” to a very deserving employee, Mrs. Pam Cota.

Criteria for the award is:

Sworn officer or civilian employee who distinguish themselves with an act which significantly benefits the department or the community are eligible to receive the Chief’s Medal.  Demonstrating outstanding leadership, professionalism, community service, or any act deemed by the Chief of Police to have significantly benefited the department towards the accomplishment of its mission and goals are considerations for this award.

Originating in 2008, the following individuals have received the Chief’s Medal:

2008 -   Officer Brad Berg

2009 –  Officer Eric Wiinanen

2010 –  Officer Rhonda Jorgensen

2011 –  Officer Todd Pearson

2012 –  Officer Pete Nielsen

2013 –  Pam Cota, Crime Free Housing Coordinator

Chief Rasmussen states that Pam Cota, winner of the 2013 Chief’s Medal, has shown and continues to show excellence by example. She is the first civilian to be awarded the medal.  A 33 year employee Pam has helped the department grow by continually doing an excellent job in the positions she has held.  Starting as a dispatcher, working nights and weekends for many years, she eventually became the first Crime Free Housing Coordinator for the City of West Fargo.  Her current position requires her to coordinate information between the police department and numerous landlords throughout the city.  She has developed training sessions for both new and longtime landlords and manages to aid them in their attempt in obtaining excellent long term tenants.  Chief Rasmussen states that just like a well-built structure needs a solid foundation, so does each organization.  Pam Cota has been and continues to be a pillar in the foundation of the City of West Fargo’s Police Department.
