Retirement of West Fargo Police Department K9 officer Disco

K9 Disco

Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, will be the last working day for K9 officer Disco, the first-ever West Fargo Police Department K9.

Disco started with the police department in March 2011. During his career he has been deployed more than 1,000 times – in situations from drug sniffs and search warrants to criminal apprehensions and community events. Disco holds the notoriety of two of North Dakota’s largest drug seizures and has seized millions of dollars’ worth of narcotics. Those are narcotics that did not make it into our community.

Disco has received countless awards in the area of narcotics, including awards from the North American Police Working Dog Association and the United States Police Canine Association. Disco has already been inducted into the North Dakota Veterinarian Medical Association Hall of Fame. Disco has accomplished all of these accolades with his lone handler, Sergeant Pete Nielsen of the West Fargo Police Department.

Disco and Sergeant Nielsen will take their final walk together as partners at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 31, 2018, at the West Fargo Police Department lobby.
